IN 40 YEARS, PUNJAB MAY GET FIRST GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE.


Punjab is likely to get a new government medical college, its fourth in SAS Nagar after four decades.The last college was opened in 1973.The punjab government had sent a proposal to the union ministry of health and family welfare for upgrading the SAS Nagar district Hospital to medical college.
There are 10 medical colleges in the state, out of which only three are  run by the government: the GMCS at Amritsar and Patiala and Guru Gobind Singh medical college of faridkot.
